I appreciate the comment and that the issue resonated. While a personal tale, the aim was to examine how far we have moved the needle in terms understanding therapeutics as it relates to the gut microbiome and health. In the USA we have a long way to go. The supportive science shines a light on an approach that is balanced and focused on the core problems. Nurture your microbiome and it will nurture you.
Phenomenal article Dr. Miller! I appreciate you sharing your personal story and struggles greatly. I have a few clients that can benefit from this information. Can you share which manufacturer or brand you used for the Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG?
If you look specifically for that probiotic in its full name plus a reputable marketer then you will be fine. That is a specific probiotic strain and to use the name it must be accurate. Do not forget S. Boulardii as well. Still taking them both plus others to restore my damaged microbiome.
The folks I will recommend this to don't have the C. Diff, do they still need Boulardii?
Do you have a favorite brand or specific amount of units needed of the rhamnosus? I know that strain helps with weight loss as well but for therapeutic purposes I'd like to follow your lead.
Of course the microbiome is a blend of bacteria and yeasts and phages. If you do not nurture the garden you essentially let anyone take it over, weeds and garbage. Nurture all aspects for a robust healthy microbiome.
Make sure itโs L. Rhamnosus LGG, not some generic strain. The best clinical research is with LGG. Not a huge fan of Protandin, I hear the chit chat but the design is wanting in my opinion. A great way to start is with the Bella Grace Elixir, thatโs got award winning ingredients at the right doses and tons of scientific and clinical support. I take it daily.
What an ordeal! Glad you made it through and luckily youโre forward thinking and well informed. ๐๐ผ Great article.
